STEWARDSHIP IN MINISTRY

                                  STEWARDSHIP IN MINISTRY

                                     Dr. Wole Gbogboade

Heb. 3: 1-6

A steward is one who receives instruction from the master and just do everything the master wants in order to please him. His only desire is to please his master by doing only his bidding. In Ministry, we are mere steward to our Lord Jesus Christ, to do what He asked us to do and to please HIM only.

Moses is said to be faithful in all areas of his ministry work. The secret being that he only focus in doing what God asked him to do and how he wanted it done. Like Jesus food was only to do the Father’s work and to finish it, John 5:19. Moses would always hear from God and do what God had asked him to do even without supervision. He was so faithful he would not add his own idea to whatever God asked him to do. God attested to Moses’ faithfulness.

My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.” Nu. 12: 7 KJV

Faithfulness is result of good stewardship which is standard for service in the kingdom.

Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” 1 Cor. 4:2 KJV

All through Moses’ stewardship since the time he led the people out of Egypt and in the wilderness Church, he was found faithful. In the building of the tabernacle, Moses was faithful. All that God asked him to instruct the people, he did without reservation. Instruction to the Levites was delivered as he received. Likewise, he did delivered God’s instruction to the leaders.

What made Moses a good Steward?

1-    Moses listened to God and had a great working relationship with Him.

2-    Moses received instruction from God

3-    He carried out his assignment accordingly

4-    He had no ulterior motive

5-    He was not out to point the people to himself except to God who appointed him over them

6-    He was humble

7-    He interceded for the people. His personal prayer life is commendable.

8-    He delegated responsibility with authority to the people

9-    He supervised the work

10-He taught the people always

11-He never added anything of his own, as he received so, he told the people

12-He built according to pattern he received from the Lord

Moses was a servant who served with high integrity even when people brought enough offering for building of the tabernacle, he told them to stop. Exo. 36: 6-7

Ref. Exodus-Deuteronomy

In the parable of the Talents, the servants were given talents according to their ability and adjudged according to their faithfulness. Both the one that got five talents and the one that got two talents worked hard and made hundred percent increase. They received similar commendation and reward. But the one who got only one talent buried it. The Master adjudged him lazy and wicked servant. He was not a good steward.

1-    He did not follow instruction

2-    He had a wrong motive

3-    He did not know His Master

4-    He was lazy and refuse to put the talent to work

5-    He did not even invest it

Faithfulness in life and Ministry entails discipline lifestyle that the Bible clearly explained and God expects all His servants to measure up. Jesus is our example. He was very faithful to the Father throughout. He was obedient even to the point of death. Phil. 2: 5-8

FAITHFULNESS IS SUCCESS:

“Therefore, holy brothers, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus; who was faithful to him who appointed him, as also was Moses in all his house….but Christ is faithful as a Son over his house; whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the glorying of our hope firm to the end.” Heb. 3:1-6 WEB

1- Faithfulness is highly rewarding Acts 13: 22

2- Its success sustained for generations

3- It brings trans-generational blessing

4– It gives you a sense of accountability 1 Cor. 4:2

5- It makes you teachable Exo. 18:13-27

6- It makes you available, accessible, touchable and reachable Heb. 4: 15

7- It makes you truthful, honest and bold: say it, mean it and live it!

8- You’ll be willing to lay down one’s life for a worthy course by faith

The life of Ruth is a good example. Ruth 1: 15-18, 4: 11-12, 16-17
